5 Things I Wish I Knew As A Skin Care Consumer Years Ago...

Why did you start creating tattoo care? That is the first question people ask me when they meet me. It really all started with a need, some outrage and a desire to fix a problem.

Resurrection Tattoo Care was created after 8 years of formulating hand crafted natural personal care products. The skin care bee in my bonnet started with a desire to find something that would help alleviate skin issues my son was plaqued with for over 19 years. In my next blog I will share how I ended up brewing up Tattoo Care. But first I want you to know the true beginning of the journey.

While researching various formulas for cremes I was truly pissed off! I mean really and truly!

Lesson Number 1 $50 Per Gallon for WATER.

One of the first things I learned was that my expensive and so called affordable lotions and potions were without exception 70-80% water. Yep. Water. We will do the math on this one in a later post.

Lesson Number 2: Most Doctors (including Dermotologists) do not really understand the chemistry in the lotion they tell you to use.

How many times do you see Dermotologist Recommended on a bottle of lotion? What the heck does that mean? Have you ever wondered?

I had countless medical professionals recommend I slather my son in lotions that in fact were the WORST thing I could have put on him! And I did it because why? My DOCTOR told me to. UGH!

Now here is the best part. Who do you think told my doctor these lotions were good for my son's skin??? Two guesses and the first one doesn't count...Big Money Manufacturers of Big Brand Personal Care Products.

Lesson Number 3: "Hypoallergenic" is about as made up as Pixie Dust and Unicorns.

That's right. Any manufacturer can loosely define their product as hypoallergenic based upon what they feel it means.

Because the FDA has made it mandatory for manufacturers to disclose their formulas on the label it is up to the consumer to figure out what they are allergic to or not. Anyone can have allergies to just about anything. FYI by nature just about everyones skin is adverse to petroleum because the skin cannot metabolize it or break it down. It wants to spit it out!

Lesson Number 4 "Fragrance" is NEVER one ingredient.

It can be hundreds of chemicals all hidden under the Proprietary Trade Secrets Umbrella. NATURAL FRAGRANCE is usually a fragrance that smells like something natural but in fact is anything  but. And just because something is unscented and dye free doesn't mean it isn't full of nasty chemicals.

Lesson Number 5: Most popular lotions contain petroleum products and why this DOES matter.

Due to the increasing awareness and adverse publicity to petroleum products manufacturers trick you with alternative names to their petroleum ingredients. Or try to fool you by claiming only 41% petroleum... but the next covert ingredient names in the formula are all also petroleum... Paraffin  Oil, Parrifinum, Mineral Oil, PEGs... just to name a few.

Here is a reasonable assertion on my part. No one ever died from using petroleum on their skin. People have even benefited in some ways. Protective barrier for the most part.

However, I can assure you NO ONE ever received more moisture or nutrient value into their skin via petroleum. This is why you have to keep putting lotion on all day!

Isn't moisturizing the skin THE ENTIRE POINT you want to achieve by putting on lotion???

I know it is for me. Furthermore, if I wanted to just put a barrier on my skin I would certainly use something better than the refuse of refined crude oil! Shouldn't you?

Better yet, I like to use products that have a very high percentage weight per volume of nutrient rich moisturizing ingredients formulated to actually deeply moisturize and protect the skin.

Give ours a try. You will feel the difference immediately. AND our TATTSYLK Daily Moisturizer will make your tattoos look amazing!
